Editor's Intern
Unpaid, 6-8 hours per week
Minor Arcana Press (MAP) empowers overlooked and outsider authors and artists through publication, publicity, and community. The Editor's Intern will be involved in the everyday operations of a small nonprofit publishing house.
Duties may include the following:
· Act as assistant to Editor-in-Chief and other editors
· Send and receive emails and correspondence on behalf of the Editor-in-Chief
· Arrange live reading opportunities for authors
· Arrange book reviews of MAP products
· Arrange for MAP books to be adopted by libraries
· Assist with grant writing
· Assist in set-up and take-down at community events
· Maintain social media (Twitter and Facebook) for the publishing house
Interns have the following opportunities:
· Gaining an understanding of book publishing at a small publisher
· Meeting and networking within the local and national publishing field
· Assisting with video production of book promotion trailers
· Selecting submissions to anthologies and magazines
· Learning grant writing
Qualified interns should have the following:
· Interest in literary arts or publishing
· Availability for approximately 6-8 hours per week
· 6 month minimum commitment
· Reliable transportation
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Access to a computer/tablet and internet (MAP cannot provide a computer)
· Familiarity with MAP's mission and vision
· An openness to working with charismatic weirdos
